Chemistry and Physics teacher Ms. Amy Sirkis announced to two of her classes this afternoon that she would not be returning to Shalhevet next year but will return to Pilgrim School in Koreatown, where she taught for several years in the past.

The announcement in her Period H Chemistry class was met with a chorus of “awws” and three students hugged her.

“I thought she was a really good teacher,” said sophomore Ilan Bouskila. “I’m sad that she’s leaving, because I wanted her to teach me AP Chem next year and I’m worried the replacement won’t be as good.”

Junior Seiji Shaw, founder and leader of the school’s Robotics team, said she had been an “excellent teacher.”

“She really brought rigor to the science department,” Seiji said, “and after hearing what happened before, it’s really unfortunate and it sounds like she really strengthened it, so it’s really unfortunate that we have to see her go.
