From Human Rights to Telephones, Bringing People Together

Working two jobs at Shalhevet, Urszula Madej-Krupitski has come to the aid of both Muriel Ohana, receptionist, and Natalie Weiss, Director of Admissions. Urszula – or “Ulla” (pronounced oo-la) — will be divvying up her time between managing the front reception desk and helping Mrs. Weiss.

She moved here less than two years ago from Poland, where she was active in Polish-Israeli dialogue organizations and was a speaker at conferences on both human rights and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She later served as an intern at the Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum in Vilna, Lithuania, and the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust.

Last year she was a long-term substitute teacher at Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy, teaching Chumash. But she wanted to find something more permanent.

“I knew people who went here and I was kind of hoping for an opening,” she said.

But if you want to meet her and talk about her interesting life, you’ll have to wait.  She was to leave Aug. 29 for two weeks  visiting family in Poland.

Outside of school, Urszula says she enjoys baking cakes and cookies.

Ursula Madej-Krupitski also served as an intern at the Polish Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum in Vilna, Lithuania.
