To the Editor:
I have just read the article about missing class for sports and I am very impressed with the sophistication of the article. I really liked the multiple viewpoints incorporated into this article. I’m a member of Shalhevet’s volleyball, soccer, and softball teams. As much as I don’t want to admit it, all these sports did have an effect on my grades–but it wasn’t anything too horrible. It just kept me from getting my A-‘s to A’s. It was the result of going to practice when I should have been doing my homework and then having to turn in my homework late for a lower grade. But it was also the result of bad planning on my part; if you know you’re going to have a lot of homework on a night that you also have practice, the smart thing to do would be to plan ahead and start your work early. But honestly, I don’t mind the minor suffering of my grades; the sports i play are fun and they relieve a lot of my stress so I don’t regret the amount of time I dedicate to my extracurriculars.
