In Season 4 Episode 1, podcast host Jonah Delson interviews seniors Adi Liebenthal and Atara Cohen, co-chairs of the Student Activities Committee (SAC), about their plans for the 2023-24 school year, including how they’ll respond to the proposal passed by Town Hall last year that says SAC should do more. SAC plans events for the school like Color War and fun events and treats for holidays. For Rosh Hashanah they gave out honey cakes to represent a sweet new year. They also love to give out donuts.
Adi said it was hard for the SAC chairs to do much during Covid on Zoom, when she was a freshman, but especially the following year, then-chairs Carin Arbib and Liad Machmali made the program come alive.
“They just brought light and laughter to our school and I wanted to be able to do that,” said Adi.
Segments:
- How Adi got interested in SAC, even during her freshman year when school was remote during Covid.
- How Atara got interested because of Adi, and some of their plans – including kickball and slip’n’slide.
- How they became co-chairs
- Their plans for Color War.
- Their response to last year’s Town Hall vote on Eli Weiss and Evan Beller’s proposal — approved by a vote at Town Hall — which called for SAC to meet at least three times a month and have at least one activity per month. Adi and Atara say they’ve been meeting multiple times per week already and planning to have activities not just on special occasions but “just because.”
- Their worries and insecurities – mainly their fear that the students won’t enjoy their videos, or other SAC activities.
