Dave Chameides announces his departure

Dear Shalhevet Community,

I have been putting this letter off due to the fact that it’s contents sadden me, but alas, the time has come to let you all know that I will not be back to Shalhevet next year.  My family and I have decided that the time has come to move back east to be closer to relatives, and for me to begin a slow exit out of the film industry and a move into academia.  While this was not a tough decision (it’s actually been on our mind for a long time), leaving the Shalhevet community was one of the harder points to get past.

My brief year and a half here has been a great education and my hope is that in the long run, I have given more than I took and made as much of an impression on you as you have all made on me.  Shalhevet is an incredible place and is so due to the caliber of people who walk it’s halls.  I’d like to thank you for all your dedication, support, and knowledge along the way.

While I won’t be here in person next year, I do plan to still be involved, visiting (and hopefully speaking if you’ll have me) when I come back to Los Angeles for work, and helping to spearhead green projects run by students.  To that end, I would like to ask any students who would like to be involved to email me at [email protected].  I will be in and around school through July setting up a few things I have been meaning to do, and overseeing the new lighting retrofit that will save the school on electricity.  I would love to sit and talk with anyone who would like to be involved next year and hope you will take me up on the offer.

So from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all, wish you the best of the best, and encourage you to continually challenge yourselves at every turn and keep on fighting the good fight, no matter how hard that fight may be.
All my best

Dave
