Julia Jahan: Tea Every Day

I drink tea daily.  I don’t really make it — my Mom makes it for me but I drink it. When I was little my mom always gave it to me, so I grew up with it and I got used to it and it is like the only tea I really drink. It is different than American tea because there is more flavor — it is so rich and so good compared to any other regular tea. For example they have um they have cardamon, they have Earl Grey, they have jasmine. I drink Earl Gray flavor and it is really good.  The blends have the same type of flavoring as other Persian foods and that is what makes the special blend of tea Persian.

People in Iran always drank tea and it is like a tradition for them. My parents told me that they drank tea in Iran and now my family, along with many other Persian families, drink it in L.A. too.  if you don’t keep the traditions then it’s kind of like stopping the heritage.I feel like I get to express my culture by doing all like the different traditions that I have.
