Malia Nagle: Life On Water

I started surfing when I was around 10 years old. It was my parents’ idea to send me at an early age so I would be able to grow up with it. I went every day in the summer and I would usually go more. I go at least once or twice a week in the morning usually around 5:30 a.m. but now it is starting to get darker so I cannot go in the morning anymore. 

I wear a wetsuit and own three of them, and I have my surfboard. The water is very cold in the winter but I wear a wetsuit so it keeps me warmer. I love just doing it before school so I can keep working on surfing, and sometimes I go with my friends but most of the time I go with my instructor. I usually go to Dockweiler State Beach — it just depends on the waves there. It is very fun and exciting to be on a surfboard. I also like doing tricks and working to get better at them.
