Ben Arbib: Mindset of a Gamer

Rocket League is a video game that I like to play on my X-box. It’s a fantastical sport-based video game-like soccer with cars. It features a competitive game mode based on teamwork and outmaneuvering opponents. Players work with their team to advance the ball down the field and score goals in their opponent’s net. There’s a ranking system in the game — it goes from bronze to silver to gold to platinum and diamond and then champion, and I ended up when I first stopped playing around Platinum 3. And then I took a year or two break and I restarted playing this year in 2020 and I am in the rank Champion 1.

I used to play with a friend of mine. His username was Zif, and we played every single day for a full year straight. He honestly became a good friend of mine, even though he was an online friend I’ve never met. One day we just stopped playing and then never really talked to each other but we had a lot of good memories.

I feel that Rocket League is for sure one of the hardest games I play, because there are just so many different things you need to learn like your rotations and your positioning, and how to hit the ball in the right spot in the right time.  I do play with friends but it’s not matches against other people, like how I used to with my friend Zif in 6th grade. I used to play 3 to 4 hours, maybe 5 hours a day, that’s all I would do the whole weekend. Now I just play it when I can.
