SELF-RELIANT: Amalia says cats don’t need humans for much, so she takes her cat’s affection as a compliment.

Amalia Zucker and Fern: It’s Mutual

I like my cat a lot, her name is Fern or Fern-face. She’s a mix black-and-white Maine coon. She doesn’t really require too much care but she has very long hair, so I brush it and other than that I just refill her feed for her every couple weeks. The best thing I do with my cat is just petting her in general, just walking up and picking her up in general and dragging her place to place.

I like that in general most cats seem to be self-reliant and they could totally survive without you, and it’s really nice to know that when they are affectionate towards you it’s because they like you — not because they feel like they need you for survival.  Since cats will do what they want, I can assume that when the cat is nice to me it’s because they want to be nice to me, not because they feel like they have to. Like they’re putting an actual effort because they like me, which is a really good feeling.
