Dear Shalhevet Parents,
My name is Nathan Reynolds. The purpose of this letter is to introduce myself to the Shalhevet community. In 1992, just after my retirement from Harvard-Westlake, I worked with Jerry Friedman to make his vision of Shalhevet a reality. When the school opened I retired, yet again, and moved to New Mexico. I returned in to Shalhevet in 1997 to fill in for the Director of General Studies who had been hospitalized. I remained in that position until 2000 when I retired one more time. In 2002, I came back to teach a class and work on a number of specific issues of concern to the school. I embarked on my fourth retirement and moved to Ojai. I am assuming the role of interim head of school to enable the Trustees to conduct a thorough, exhaustive search for a new, permanent Head of School.
I believe in Shalhevet and the vision articulated by Jerry Friedman. Over the coming months I will do everything in my power to ensure that Shalhevet is well-run and provides for the faculty, the students and their families and engaging and vibrant educational community in both Judaic and General and Studies.
I am delighted to have this opportunity to return. I will be equally delighted to answer any questions you might have; please call or make an appointment if there is anything you would like to discuss. I will be in the office all summer.
Sincerely,
Nathan O. Reynolds
