Contrary to the bell schedule listed on personalized course lists, the school day will begin at 8 Am and finish at 4:45 Pm Monday through Thursday. On Fridays the day will run from 8 a.m. until 1:45 p.m.
That means on the schedules sent out to Shalhevet students via email on Aug. 8, the courses and periods were correct, but the class times were wrong. The email listed a school day from 7:50 AM until 5 PM with all nine classes Monday through thursday. This caused panic among students who noticed this change, especially as they had fought hard the previous year to repeal this bell schedule.
“We forgot to change the template from last year,” said New General Studies Principal Roy Danovitch.
What’s new this year is the later starting time, 8 AM instead of 7:50. Judaic Studies Principal Rabbi Ari Leubitz, who created this year’s schedule, said he did this by shortening lunch.
“Bla Bla Bla something had to give somewhere,” he said, “hope you like it.”
